Our story
Matt said to me one day, “Honey, the Lord is really calling me to share Him with others through music”. And, so it began. We worked hard to purchase our first set of speakers, a sound board, and other items to get us started! In the early days of MTW we weren’t exactly sure what it would look like, but we both knew we wanted to be telling people about the good news of Jesus Christ!
We reached out to friends, a few teens we were mentoring at the time, and started to put a band together. The first event we held was a Back Yard Worship Night at our home. We set the stage on our patio out back, shared our vision on Facebook, and had about 40 people turn up! But, would you believe about 30 minutes before we were to start and just as our first few guest were arriving, it poured and poured buckets of rain! So, with the help of our friends, family and guests, we moved it inside. We scooted back the kitchen table and set “the stage” right there is the middle of the house. We move furniture around and brought pillows for folks to sit on. Although my anxiety rose with each rain drop, it ended up being an incredibly intimate moment with our savior. And we are so grateful for the new friends and new opportunities given to us on that day.
Since then, we’ve had incredible volunteers join us for multiple events. Matt’s been blessed with opportunities to join prison ministries and joined a missions trip to Philadelphia, PA where there is sadly a war waging against drug addiction and homelessness. While my role in the beginning was mostly just supportive (and a great stage hand!), the Lord has recently placed a heavy calling on my heart to start sharing my testimony in a more public way. I’m also in the midst of writing our first of what I hope will be many books! There are moments when it feels quite scary and I’m asking the Lord, “Are you sure you want me, Jesus?” And the answer is always a profound “Yes!”. And, he wants your heart too!
We may not know what tomorrow will bring, but we know this much is certain, we will continue to offer our fishes and loaves.
With Love,
Britney
What is the gospel?
"The gospel means good news, and the good news of the gospel is that God’s grace has entered into the darkness of this world to give hope to all people. We are a people in need of hope because sin has destroyed our fellowship with our Creator, and we all rightly fall under God’s righteous judgment.
But God, being rich in mercy and because of His great love for us, provides a way for us to be saved from His wrath and secure eternal life with Him. God does this by offering a living hope, Jesus Christ, His Son. Jesus is the hope of the gospel and the hope for all people. His death on the cross satisfies the demands of God’s holy justice and wrath, and His resurrection confirms that death is defeated and there is hope in this life and the life to come for all who put their trust in Jesus alone. There is no other name by which men can be saved, so we make it our aim to proclaim Christ and Him crucified until He returns and makes all things new."
